Hello, fellow travelers and wanderlust enthusiasts! I am thrilled to share that tomorrow marks the beginning of an incredible journey. After nine wonderful years at Blue Shield of California, where I work as a project manager, I am taking advantage of the company’s generous month-long sabbatical offered to employees after five years of service. This break couldn’t have come at a better time, as I am also in the final stretch of earning my master’s in public health. My last class wraps up on July 22, and I couldn’t be more excited to graduate after completing my 90-hour practicum and thesis.

My itinerary for the next month is filled with exciting destinations and enriching experiences. Here’s a glimpse of where I’ll be traveling:
Budapest, Hungary (July 5-10)
I’ll start my adventure in the beautiful city of Budapest. I am eager to explore the historic streets, indulge in local cuisine, and immerse myself in the rich culture. Staying in the Jewish District, I look forward to visiting the Great Synagogue and the vibrant ruin bars that the city is famous for.
Catania, Sicily, Italy (July 11-17)
Next, I will head to the charming city of Catania in Sicily. This part of the trip is all about indulging in the delicious Sicilian food. I can’t wait to enjoy fresh seafood, arancini, and of course, cannoli. Exploring the historic sites and enjoying the coastal views will surely be a highlight.
Barcelona, Spain (July 17-21)
From there, I’ll fly to Barcelona, where I am particularly excited to see the stunning Gaudi architecture. The Sagrada Familia and Park Güell have been on my bucket list for a long time, and I can’t wait to experience them in person. The vibrant street life and tapas culture are sure to make my stay memorable.
Porto, Portugal (July 21-25)
Following Barcelona, Porto is next on my list. Known for its port wine and picturesque riverfront, I plan to enjoy leisurely strolls along the Douro River and explore the city’s historic charm. Sampling local wines and discovering hidden gems in the city are top on my agenda.
Marrakech, Morocco (July 26-August 1)
Finally, I will conclude my journey in Marrakech. The markets, or souks, are famous for their vibrant colors and enticing aromas, and I can’t wait to experience them firsthand. The rich culture, stunning architecture, and delicious food will be a fantastic way to end my month-long adventure.

This trip is not just about seeing new places; it’s also a journey of self-discovery and a chance to recharge. Traveling alone has always been a passion of mine, allowing me to embrace new cultures and meet incredible people along the way.
Stay tuned for updates from each destination as I share my experiences and the amazing sights, sounds, and flavors I encounter. Here’s to new adventures and the joy of traveling alone!
